Unpunctuated Challenge 12: Apostrophes for Singular Possession
The Pedant’s Friend
You can irritate a punctuation pedant by forgetting to use these. A method for remembering where to place an apostrophe to indicate possession is to remember the tail of the apostrophe should point to the owner. We call this the ‘apostrophe arrow’.
This Unpunctuated challenge is tricky because as well as an apostrophe for singular possession there is a choice to be made about whether the word its should have an apostrophe too.
You can learn more about using the ‘apostrophe arrow method’ in the resources for using apostrophes for singular possession.
